Family Travel

We love creating luxury safari itineraries for families!

Please provide the dates of birth of your children or teens so that we can create a luxury itinerary that suits the profile of your specific family.

Add elements of fun and adventure to your private luxury African safari, and it will be enjoyed and appreciated by all - including your children, teenagers and young adults.

Create a truly memorable journey by booking private activities for maximum flexibility and quality family bonding.

Activities are tailored to suit the interests and desires of each family.

Your teenagers and young adults will love the adrenaline and adventure provided by safari walks, mountain biking, quad biking, jet boating, exhilarating helicopter flights, elephant riding, mokoro paddling, animal tracking, archery and more.

Minimum age limits may apply for certain activities, and activities offered vary depending on the specific destination.

Your young children will be entertained by well-trained, friendly and enthusiastic staff that will subtly teach them about nature through activities such as shortened game drives away from dangerous animals, searching for animal tracks in camp, frogging, butterfly capture and release, learning bush survival techniques, flower pressing, game spotting competitions, nature quizzes, baking animal cookies, board games, learning about the stars, fishing and more.  Activities offered vary depending on the specific safari lodge / camp.

For safety reasons, the participation of children in any game viewing activities is at the discretion of the safari guide and camp manager.

Points to keep in mind when planning your luxury family safari:

Family units and private activities in the high end safari lodges and camps are limited and so it is advisable to start planning your trip far in advance.

The remoteness of some safari destinations may not be suitable for families travelling with young children, and for safety reasons minimum age limits apply in certain safari lodges and camps and also for certain activities.

For the comfort of all their guests, high end safari lodges and camps often enforce a minimum age limit for children sharing facilities and activities with other guests. Younger children can then only be accommodated if a private villa or family unit is booked which comes with its own game drive vehicle, safari guide, butler and chef, or when the entire lodge / camp is booked on a sole-use basis.

At some luxury safari destinations, even teenagers are required to share accommodation with at least one adult at all times. For safety reasons they are not allowed to take up their own room.  In those instances we recommend a two bedroom family unit.

Triple share accommodation is on a request basis, and is not possible everywhere. When it is allowed, it is only applicable in the case of a child sharing with adults.  Guests must accept that there is sometimes an impact on space and comfort in the case of triple share accommodation.

The maximum age limit to qualify for a child discount when sharing with parents vary depending on the specific safari lodge / camp.
