Perfect end to a luxury Kenya safari

The south coast of Kenya makes a Bush and Beach safari combination easy. Safaris are highly rewarding but after a week or more of getting up at the crack of dawn and adrenaline pumping at thrilling game sightings, body and mind can do with a few days of relaxation on a beautiful Indian Ocean beach before returning to the stress and demands of everyday life.

Msambweni beach - pristine 4km long unspoiled beachfront

Msambweni has a secluded wide sun-soaked white sandy beach away from the crowds, fringed with palm trees and lapped by warm Indian Ocean waters. It is located in a safe area of the Kenyan south coast near the Tanzanian border.

On the south coast of Kenya, rich coral reefs protect the beaches, creating calm waters ideal for swimming and water sports such as kitesurfing, stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing, kayaking, body boarding and boat excursions.

Spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling in Kisite Mpunguti marine park

Kisite Mpunguti marine park offers some of the best snorkeling and diving on the African coast. The reefs are visited by dolphins, sea turtles, manta rays, and the most gentle ocean giants of all, whale sharks. The reefs at Kisite Mpunguti are among the best in Kenya in terms of species diversity and coral quality. The warm pristine waters are host to a bewildering variety of sea life that makes Kisite Mpunguti famous for its "coral gardens" under the sea.

Whale shark encounters

The whale shark is the world’s largest fish. It is an elusive, highly migratory oceanic fish that occasionally ventures to a handful of coastlines. The Kenyan coast has in recent times seen an increase in whale shark populations. They often swim near the surface and sightings of these gentle and curious creatures by snorkelers and divers are a memorable experience.

Legendary big game fishing

Big game fishing on the Kenyan coast has brought many great fishermen to Kenya, including Ernest Hemingway. A thrilling experience can be had fishing for marlin, sailfish, barracuda, gilthead, tuna, king cod and snapper.

Romance and relaxation

Perhaps you are simply looking for the ultimate in peace and privacy, some blissful spa treatments and pampering massages, a few rounds of golf, or for a special romantic break. Lay back, relax, and let the rest of the world drift away at an exclusive beach resort on Kenya's south coast.

Superb culinary experience

On the Kenya south coast, the bounty of the Indian Ocean and some of the world's best fresh seafood  are right on the doorstep. Mediterranean influences combine with African inspiration to create delightful local dishes.

Pristine coastal forest

Even at the coast, the famous Kenyan wildlife is never far away. Discover a world of birds, endangered colobus monkeys, forest elephants, the Sheldrick waterfalls, and the rare and unique sable antelope at Shimba Hills national reserve which protects one of the last intact rain forests in Kenya.

Best time of year for a Kenyan South Coast luxury beach holiday

The south coast of Kenya has a warm tropical climate, influenced by the large scale pressure systems of the Indian Ocean and the two monsoon winds: Kaskazi and Kusi. The average day temperatures range from 22 °C to 34 °C.  March is usually the hottest month, and the coolest is July. Rainfall peaks in May, and fair amounts of rain can also be expected in April, October and November. February is the driest month. Sea temperatures range year-round from 25°C to 28°C. During the Kazkazi season, the sea is particularly transparent and free from sea weeds and it is the best time for diving and snorkeling. The fishing season is from July through to late April.
